Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Systems (IMIAL Level 2 QCF)

VSH24 A Bosch Certified IMI Awards Qualification (QCF)

With the significant increase in the numbers of Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV’s) on the roads, garage technicians will become increasingly involved in the servicing and repair of these vehicles. The technological developments utilised with Hybrid and Electric Vehicles alongwith the critical safety measures are very different to traditional vehicles. The courses contained within the Hybrid and Electric programme are designed to cover everything that you need to know about these vehicles; from how to work safely on them, to the knowledge and skills necessary to be able to remove and replace HV components

Who this course is for:

This Award is designed for motor vehicle professionals who maintain and repair hybrid technology vehicles, but not the hybrid system itself. The course content, compiled by Bosch, contains the knowledge required to work safely around a vehicle's hybrid system, whilst carrying out repairs or maintenance.

This qualification:

This IMI Awards Level 2 QCF (Qualifications and Credit Framework) qualification comprises the first unit of the Level 3 Award in Hybrid Electric Vehicle Repair and Replacement QCF (Ref: 500/7150/6). However this Level 2 qualification can also be completed as a standalone unit.

Course content:

  • Hybrid system components and operation
  • How to work safely on hybrid and related vehicle systems
  • Maintenance and repair methods when working on hybrid vehicles

Prerequisites:

IMI Awards require applicants to already have vehicle maintenance & repair knowledge and skills at Level 2. Technicians holding a Level 2 qualification (or higher) in automotive service and repair, or with proof of a minimum of 2 years workshop experience at service level may attend this course.

Attainment:

On completion of this ‘single unit’ qualification, technicians will have gained knowledge of high voltage hybrid technologies and an understanding of their dangers. Technicians successfully completing the IMI Awards online test of VSH 24 will be certificated by IMI Awards Ltd.

What do other people think of this course?

"I attended the hybrid course held at Wakefield Skills Centre, I wanted to gain more knowledge about these complex systems. I found the training very informative regarding health and safety and how these systems work, which included practical training and assessments. I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to work safely on hybrid vehicles."
